Seriously??? A Snow Day???

So last Tuesday at 5:56 a.m. I receive an automated phone call from the school district informing me that school would not be in session because of the heavy snow. What the heck? These 'Cago-ans don't understand the meaning of a heavy snowfall. When I was growing up we never got snow days, and the one I do remember was because it had snowed like 5 feet overnight. I actually tried to track down some archived pictures from that May 1986 storm but had no luck so sorry there's no comparison. But seriously, those of you from Calgary, Utah, Colorado will laugh and the ridiculosity of last week's snow day in Plainfield, IL.

After many snowfalls I was FINALLY able to convince Brady to play out in the snow the day after the BRUTAL STORM (sense the sarcasm?) He never wanted to before, and even this time he was highly uninterested, until I actually got him all bundled and carried him outside. The first time he fell he wasn't too sure about everything, but finally got the hang of it and helped his daddy shovel the driveway! Since then he's asked almost every day to "go pay a no" (translation: Go play in the snow.)

Notice the corner of the patio NOT covered by the snow.

Notice the grass not covered by the snow

Again, notice the grass

The biggest drift of the day! WOW

The house across the street! Look at all the snow on the roof!

My cute little Brady

Learning how to shovel

Cheeeessseeee!

Hmmmm, what's over there?

Chicago is awesome, that's all I have to say! If you want a reminder of the huge amount of snow in Denver, you can look at my blog. Brady is so freaking cute! I love him!

That is funny - but snow days are great. I remember ONE in all of growing up in Calgary. Here in Texas they are crazy though - it gets cold - no snow - and everything closes down!

Your blizzard makes our snowfall look like a rain shower! Too funny...snow days...you know what I think about those.

So I live in So Cali and even I know that is ridiculous! Don't get me wrong, if it snowed here that much, we'd do the same thing but isn't Cago supposed to get snow? Brady is the most adorable kid in the world though!
