There are very few things...

...in the world that I absolutely HATE. I am devoting this post to one of them...

THE STOMACH FLU

I HATE the stomach flu. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it! I hate everything about it!

I HATE how you catch it from someone before the person you caught it from even knows that they have it.

I HATE how it rears its ugly head at the most inconvenient times of life (Christmas, Thanksgiving, summer vacation, family reunions, a few days before you're supposed to run in the Las Vegas Ragnar)

I HATE how its so unpredictable. Who will get it? Will we all get it? Well I got it last time so I really shouldn't get it again. When will we get it? Can't we all just get it at the same time so we don't drag it out for 2 weeks? Why did she get it but he didn't? When can I feel comfortable that its passed? Ugh! HATE IT!

I HATE how the kids always get it in the middle of the night. Brady threw up on Saturday morning at about 3:30. Natalie puked this morning at 1:00.

I HATE how little little kids, like 3 and under, don't really give you any warning when they're about to vomit. They just vomit. I can't even count how many times I've been hurled on by my kids, and sometimes other peoples kids. YUCK!

I HATE cleaning it up! I don't want to give you t.m.i. but last night I almost cut Natalie's jammy shirt off her. It was literally soaked in barf. Poor baby started to yack in her sleep and it got EVERYWHERE!!!!!! Down her back, in her hair, down the front of her, in her pants, on her panties. I mean everywhere. Along with this I HATE that I don't have a utility sink in this house. Scrubbing and disinfecting a bath tub is way harder then scrubbing and disinfecting a utility sink when its 1 a.m. Not to mention having to carry the dripping wet vomit sheets from that bathtub that said sheets were rinsed in, to the laundry room.

I HATE laying in bed or on the couch with the sick child and jumping 20 feet in the air everytime they move because I'm scared they're gonna hurl.

Oh, I could go on but I think I'll stop there!

But if you could all send some prayers my way that I don't get it this weekend when I'm running in Las Vegas and TJ doesn't get it while he's home with the kids... THAT would be super!!!!!

Aww Jules...I'm so sorry...I don't like any of those things either...but I have to say that I laughed at jumping off the couch when they move...I totally do that too...or cup my hands under their chin...not like that catches much but it's instinctive I guess!
Good luck this weekend!

I have taken to having a barf bucket. Gross, I know! But, this way there is something to throw up into, instead of all over a towel, blanket, pillow, parent, or even unlucky pet! Of course, this still involves sleeping by them, so that said emesis (that's a fancy medical term that I have recently learned in medical school...aren't I smart?) actually makes it into appointed bowl. Anyway, prayers are being sent in your direction...there will be no puking (unless of course it's running-induced!) in Las Vegas!

Good Luck running on Saturday, good luck not getting the barfs and good luck to TJ not getting them. Even bigger GOOD LUCK that we don't all get it here! But then again, it would be nice to have it over before the holidays! Still, if we could just not get it at all that would be even better! Loves!

Ooooh you could have another Bear Lake episode this Christmas!! Yuck!! So good luck with it all....and I'm so sorry....I hate the pukes. That is one thing as a school teacher I made very clear to my students.."DO NOT THROW UP ON ME!!!! IF you have to throw up grab the trash or run out of the room but DO NOT come up to me to tell me and then BLAHHHH all over me!!" I managed 10 years without throw up on me...now let's see how being a mom goes!!

Good luck running!

Oh dear! I hate the pukes too...well really, who likes them?
I have the "puke bucket" in the kids bathroom which is very handy. My youngest puked for 3 days on and off with EVERY single tooth that came in right down to the very last two year molar! That's twenty teeth X at least 3 barfs every time (and I mean BIG barfs) = 60+ teething barfs in 2 years! That doesn't include gastro intestinal problems...lets just say I'm an experienced puke catcher/cleaner upper! I love your comment too about jumping 20 feet with every movement...it goes along with the pit of your stomach doing a flip every time the puke starts to fly.
Bryan went away for a month last year and Sienna got the stomach flu. She puked on the kitchen floor and then slipped in it! She puked every 15 minutes for hours...I just cried the whole time. I really hope TJ doesn't have to deal with any of it on his own.
It has been a couple of days since you blogged so hopefully you are well right now! Good luck on your race!!!
